What to Expect

Taking the first step toward therapy can feel daunting. You may not be sure what to say, what will happen, or whether it will feel right. Lynn’s goal is to make the process as simple and transparent as possible.

Step 1: Get in Touch

You can begin by filling in the contact form, which comes directly to Lynn. Lynn will respond within 24 hours to invite you to arrange an introductory conversation to take place over video call or phone.

If you wish, you can use the form to write a little about what has brought you to consider therapy, but it’s not necessary to do so.

Step 2: Introductory Meeting

The introductory meeting is a brief phone call or online meeting with Lynn; there is no charge for this initial conversation. During this call, you can ask any questions you may have as well as get a sense of whether working together feels right. Lynn will also let you know her current availability should you decide to begin therapy and set up a time and date for your first weekly therapy session.

There is no obligation to continue — this is simply a time to explore whether therapy with Lynn feels like the right step.

Step 3: Your First Session

In your first session, Lynn will invite you to talk a little about yourself and what has led you to seek therapy at this time. You don’t need to prepare anything in advance, you can go at your own pace, and you are always in control of what you choose to share.

Therapy sessions last 50 minutes. Many people attend weekly therapy at a regular time every week, but some flexibility may be possible depending on your needs. You can choose to work together for a set number of sessions or on an open-ended basis, with regular reviews along the way.

How long does therapy last?

The length of therapy depends on what you’re bringing and what feels most helpful for you. Some people find that 6 to 12 weekly sessions provide the support they need, while others prefer longer-term, open-ended therapy to explore their experiences more deeply.

Whichever you choose, Lynn will regularly check in with you to reflect on how therapy is going and to make sure the work continues to feel supportive, relevant, and useful.
